Use of shall

1. Introduction (Warm-up Activity)

📌 Activity: "Predict the Future"

  • Write two sentences on the board:
    1. I will go to the park tomorrow.
    2. I shall go to the park tomorrow.
  • Ask: What is the difference?
  • Let students guess and explain that "shall" is a formal way to express the future, often used with "I" and "we."

👉 Rule 1: "Shall" is used for formal future statements with "I" and "We".


2. Teaching Through Conversation

👥 Roleplay: Making Offers & Suggestions

  • Pair up students and give them real-life situations.
  • Examples:
    • Situation 1: Two friends planning a trip
      • A: Shall we visit the zoo this weekend?
      • B: Yes, that sounds great!
    • Situation 2: Asking for advice
      • A: I am confused. Shall I take Science or Commerce?
      • B: You should choose based on your interest.
